Basic Fantasy Golf Scoring

Your team's basic score in the golf pool is calculated by adding up the scores relative to par for all six of your selected players. For example, if your players are:

  • Player 1: -4
  • Player 2: -2
  • Player 3: Even (0)
  • Player 4: +1
  • Player 5: -1
  • Player 6: +2
  • Raw Team Total: -4 (the sum of all scores)

NET Scoring System for Golf Pools

The score that determines the winner in your fantasy golf pool is your team's NET score, which includes any handicap adjustments set by your group administrator:

Example: Fantasy golf teams showing individual player scores and handicap (HCP) adjustments affecting the final NET score

  • Handicaps are applied in real-time to adjust your total fantasy golf score
  • Adjustments can be positive (penalties) or negative (bonuses)
  • Your leaderboard position is based on your NET score, not your raw score

Fantasy Golf Handicap System

Group administrators can set handicaps to make the fantasy golf competition more interesting:

  • Up to 5 players can be assigned handicaps per tournament
  • Positive handicaps (e.g., +5) penalize teams for selecting that player
  • Negative handicaps (e.g., -3) give teams a bonus for selecting that player

Important: While handicaps can make certain players more attractive, remember that making the cut is still crucial. A missed cut eliminates your team regardless of handicap advantages! Learn more about our handicap system.

Fantasy Golf Scoring Example

Here's how handicaps affect your team score in a golf pool:

Raw Team Score: -4

Handicap Adjustments:

  • Player 1: +5 handicap (penalty)
  • Player 4: -3 handicap (bonus)

Final NET Score: -2

(-4 raw score + 5 penalty - 3 bonus = -2 NET score)

Player Withdrawals and Scoring

If any player withdraws during the tournament:

  • They are treated the same as missing the cut
  • Your team is eliminated from fantasy golf contention
  • This applies regardless of:
    • When the withdrawal occurs
    • How well your other players are performing
    • Any handicap advantages you might have
